The building replaces the outdated facilities in the town that were shared with the Court Service. Located opposite the district council offices, the scheme required the demolition of an existing bungalow and the retention of the existing road frontage landscaping.

The design reflects the previous bases constructed for the Constabulary with the emphasis being on sustainability. The building features air source heat pumps, photovoltaic cells, sustainable drainage, a green sedam roof and a wind turbine. The scheme was carefully designed to take into account the new travellers site located to the rear of the station.
