Quality of Place Awards Winner – Building Conservation

Chaplin Farrant are very pleased to have won first place in the Building Conservation category for the external repairs to the Grade II listed former Post Office in Lowestoft at the Quality of Place Awards last week!

The awards recognise the best in design and conservation in East Suffolk.

This project was delivered through the London Road, Lowestoft Heritage Action Zone, and funded by Historic EnglandEast Suffolk Council and the Towns Fund. It’s been great working with the rest of the dedicated project team.

The next phase is the conversion of the former post office into a cultural space, with artists studios, galleries and a new courtyard café subject to planning approval. It will be the new home for Messums East. Work will transform the building for its new use while revealing its significance as a heritage asset, enhancing the character of the space and encouraging public use of this wonderful space. Many of the original features remain and will be restored and celebrated. We can't wait to get started but couldn’t do it without an excellent team:
