We have extensive experience in delivering design-led, large-scale residential projects across the east region. A recent scheme in Great Wakering, Essex was a design and quality led approach for a social housing client while balancing the site constraints and planning policy requirements.
Our involvement began with a Reserved Matters planning application for 120 dwellings, featuring a mix of affordable rent, shared ownership, and open market homes, ranging from 1-bed flats to 4-bed townhouses. A large public open space along the western boundary provides a natural transition to the surrounding rural landscape, while a central tree-lined boulevard and landscaped ‘green fingers’ enhance connectivity and views.
Designed to complement the existing residential character, the homes adopt a traditional form with a contemporary edge - featuring brick detailing, corner windows, and a refined materials palette. A high-pressure gas main and strict planning policies proved challenging to resolve but the end result is fantastic and the project reflects our commitment to delivering well-designed, sustainable communities at scale.
