The building has enabled the relocation of an existing school on a tight urban site and allows it to accommodate additional year groups as required by the restructuring of Dorset County Council's education system.
The new structure has a curved green sedum roof, locally sourced stone and render walls and a zinc clad hall.
The building’s energy use is kept to a minimum with a highly insulated envelop, efficient services and a large area of photo voltaic cells.
The pupils enjoy light, airy teaching facilities with clear storey glazing and direct access to covered external classroom areas, with the playing fields beyond.
