One-off house in Norwich completed
Work has recently been completed on a private house in Norwich
Chaplin Farrant have recently provided archtiectural and structural engineering services for a new one off house in Norwich.
Brief: to design a new 2 storey 304m² family home by subdividing the client’s existing property. The existing house was dark and cold and the client wanted to use their south facing plot to build a house that was the antithesis of this.
Detail: we have designed a light 4-bed home, with study which maximises the views from the family rooms and roof terrace. A three bay cart shed stands adjacent to the house.
Design: the materials used combine a warm pallet based on a traditional theme with a contemporary edge. The timber cladding is used to suit the tree lined site.
Challenges: planning constraints provided a challenge because the site is in the rear garden of the existing house. There were also challenges to solve with regards to highways and access.
