Brief: To design and construct a new dance studio for the school, purpose built to Sport England standards, and the relocation of an existing mobile classroom.

 

Detail: We were involved in the feasibility of the scheme before developing the proposals further to submission of the planning application, working drawing package and managing the construction on site.

 

The external appearance of the studio was designed to be predominantly in keeping with the new modern languages block, with use of red brick facades, powder coated aluminium windows and a composite metal over sailing mono-pitched roof. However, the choice of yellow render was deliberate to contrast with the surrounding buildings and create an area that is lively and interesting.

 

Sustainability: The choice of materials allowed faster construction time, as well as high levels
of insulation. The building set a new standard
for sustainability at the school.
