Detail The Ship Inn was an important institution in Great Yarmouth for over 250 years. By 2008, it had fallen into a dilapidated state, and its days as a Public House were well and truly over.
NHS Great Yarmouth and Waveney obtained the building in order to provide a health facility next to the Greyfriars’s Clinic.
Conservation To allow the NHS to fully utilise the building’s potential, it was necessary to extend it. A modern rear annexe was designed and constructed, using sympathetic materials to ensure that the design complemented the original structure.
Awards The refurbishment and extension won a CPRE Norfolk Award (Campaign to Protect Rural England) that recognises projects which enhance Norfolk.
